HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Shera Mae Patricio has been on the move.
Since making her professional boxing debut in 2024, the Waianae native has continued to level up in the sport.
Patricio has an unblemished 7-0 record with three knockouts and, as the oldest of eight siblings, is carrying on the legacy of her fighting family.
Her dad, Lyndon, was a boxer who trained with former Olympian Brian Viloria.
“Me and my brother, we’re both pro, and then we got my other brother, he’s on Team USA, so he travels a lot,” Patricio said. “We go up to support him, and then I fly out every time, and my brother and they fly out to me for my flights, and we’ve just been very active.”
Patricio grew up learning the sweet science and boasts an impressive amateur resume with 11 national championships and nearly making the U.S. Olympic team in 2024.
She fights with an aggressive boxing style that she says has been refined since turning pro.
“I never changed my style because that’s like what works for me. I just added onto my style. I learned how to box more. I learned how to like learn my distance,” Patricio said. “Timing, make sure it’s right, make sure my defense is tight to avoid from head clashes or like any cuts in anything.”
Patricio is now set to face Maribel Ramirez in New York next weekend for Manny Pacquiao Promotions, a chance for the 23-year-old to fight under one of the sport’s icons and her personal hero.
“It’s a huge honor and blessing to fight under his card, especially cause I’m Filipino and I got to represent my culture,” Patricio said. “Like, it’s an honor because he’s actually one of, was one of my idols as a younger kid.”
Patricio is joining a lineage of Waianae-born fighters helping boost the sport in their West Oahu community.
“I can see how, like, the boxing community in Hawaii is, like, growing, and we’re just making a change and putting Hawaii on a map,“ Patricio said. ”So it’s like, a really big thing.”
Catch Patricio’s fight on Feb. 28, available to stream in the U.S. on Amazon Prime Video.
