Injured factory Honda WorldSBK rookie Jake Dixon has undergone surgery in Melbourne.
The former Moto2 title race winner was ruled out of a HRC WorldSBK debut in this weekend’s season opener when he fractured his left wrist on Tuesday’s final day of testing at Phillip Island.
HRC has now revealed that the Englishman suffered “multiple fractures to his left wrist and hand” in the accident, which occurred at Turn 11 on his first flying lap of the day.
“Following an initial medical assessment at the circuit, Dixon was transported to Melbourne, where further examinations confirmed the need for surgical intervention to stabilise the fractures,” read a HRC statement.
“The procedure was completed successfully without complications. Further assessment in the coming weeks will help to clarify the timeline for Dixon’s recovery.
