Kmart is known for its cult following, but there’s no denying that Aussies across the country also visit Big W to snap up affordable fashion and homewares. But this weekend, the retailer is flipping the script — and it’s all about treating mums.
On Saturday, Big W will be giving away thousands of free gifts from its new Autumn/Winter collection. ‘Treat Trucks’ will be rolling out to select locations in Sydney to offer Aussie mums a range of presents, including handbags, earrings, jewellery boxes, tea cups and scented candles.
What if you’re not in Sydney?
Don’t worry — Big W stores nationwide will also be surprising more than 2,500 lucky mums with selected free gifts in-store.
Any adult can collect a treat on behalf of a mum or caregiver.

The initiative comes after new research commissioned by Big W found Aussie mums are four times less likely to treat themselves than their kids, with one in five (22 per cent) admitting they rarely treat themselves at all.
Even more telling? Almost 70 per cent say they feel guilty when they do.
Where can I collect free gifts from Big W?
The ‘Treat Truck’ roamed around Sydney’s inner west on Wednesday.
But will be stopping at the following locations on Saturday, February 21:
Luna Park Sydney: 10am–1pm
Centennial Park: 3pm–4:30pm
At Luna Park, mums can also get a first look at pieces from the new Autumn/Winter collection and stop for a chat with style ambassador and former MAFS contestant, Jules Robinson.
“The research really hit home because it reflects what so many mums live every day,” the mum-of-two said.
“We give so much of ourselves to everyone around us, often without even thinking twice, and somewhere in that juggle we can forget about ourselves.”
Yahoo Lifestyle saw what was on showcase on Wednesday, which you can check out here.
With 75 per cent of womenswear priced at $20 or less and most decor under $15, Big W said small, affordable moments can still feel special.
What free gifts are up for grabs?
