Senior Kelly Dowuona (Brampton, Ontario; St. Marguerite d’Youville) and sophomore Kevin Titus Suresh (Bengaluru, India; Clarence), members of the Saint Francis tennis team, were named NEC Prime Performers, respectively. This marks the tenth time Dowuona has earned the award, while Suresh received it for the fifth time in his two years with the program.

This season, Dowuona cemented her legacy at Saint Francis by becoming the all-time leader in combined wins and, as of Friday, Sept. 6, the all-time leader in singles matches with 59 victories. She currently holds an 11-10 record in singles and a 13-7 record in doubles, ranking third on the team. In her last match against FDU, she won her fourth consecutive match of the spring season, capturing her 71st career victory with a score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

So far this season, Suresh has been the driving force at the top of the Saint Francis men’s tennis lineup, earning the nickname “The King” for his dominant performance. Currently, he leads the team with a 14-7 record. His most recent match came against NEC foe FDU, where he fought off his opponent’s attempted comeback with a tiebreaker in the second set, finishing with a final score of 6-4, 7-6 (6-3).

The Red Flash men’s tennis team is back in action this weekend, competing in a three-match series. The first match is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13, against Carnegie Mellon at the Rashid Hassan Tennis Center in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. The Saint Francis women’s tennis team will also be in action this weekend, taking on Bucknell at the Central PA Tennis Center in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, at 6 p.m.

The Red Flash men’s and women’s tennis teams will compete in a joint dual match against Lehigh on Saturday and Lafayette on Sunday.
