Coronation Street aired a mysterious and confusing scene tonight, as alarm bells rang out during a surprise break-in. A shadowy figure was briefly seen lurking around in the dark, but what exactly happened?
In today’s episode, an unknown intruder entered The Kabin after it had been locked up for the night. Their trespassing set off an alarm system, as they carefully made their way behind the shop counter.
However, instead of putting their hand in the till, the thief quickly grabbed owner Brian Packham’s beloved, rare book and headed back out the door. The targeted nature of the attack puts only a few characters in the frame.
One local resident who has recently shown their disdain for Brian is Lily Platt, who was fired from her paper round earlier this week. After landing the job, the youngster decided to bin the newspapers which were later handed in by Hope Dobbs.

Despite being told to apologise, Lily doubled down on her bad behaviour and told Brian to shove his job. And in tonight’s episode, she complained to her step-aunt Jodie Ramsey about her “boring” ex-employer and his obsession with his “stupid book”.
When Hope arrived, Jodie told her how mean Brian and Rita were to Lily when she first tried to make amends. However, Hope maintained that they’d been kind to her, helping her achieve her Duke of Edinburgh Award.
“Yeah, I bet they have. All nice to your face,” Jodie replied. “But I wonder what they’re saying behind your back.”

Later, in The Kabin, Hope overheard the shopkeepers discussing her troubled past, though Rita pointed out that she was becoming a “lovely young lady”. When Brian described Hope’s dad John Stape as a “raging psychopath”, she decided to confront the pair.
Brian continued to put his foot in his mouth as he waved his book in her face, telling her to read more to “boost [her] brain power”. An insulted Hope accused him of calling her stupid and stormed out.
With both teens clearly furious at Brian, did either of them steal his book to teach him a lesson? Or could manipulative Jodie be behind the theft, knowing Hope and Lily would be the prime suspects?
