A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Reservoir in Melbourne’s north.
Police and paramedics were called to reports of a woman being hit by a car on Seston Street about 7:40pm last night.
The woman died at the scene.
The Homicide Squad was called and detectives arrested a 44-year-old Reservoir man, Luke Rainey, at the scene.
During a brief hearing at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court, police prosecutors explained processing the crime scene and dealing with forensics would take 12 weeks.
Mr Rainey did not apply for bail.
The matter has since been adjourned.

One neighbour told the media that prior to the fatal incident he saw the woman attacking the man after he had gotten out of a four-wheel-drive.
“Everything erupted,” he said.
“Screaming, violence…she just starting throwing things, picking up trollies, throwing them at the car.”
Police have not released any details about the woman’s identity but said she and the man knew each other.
There was a large police presence in the street throughout the night as investigators gathered evidence.
The accused will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
