With health care spending on wildly popular GLP-1 drugs for weight loss soaring, local insurers got stricter this year on how they would cover the medications. Insurers like Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and Point32Health said they would stop covering the drugs for many customers, but have given large employers the option of retaining coverage by paying an extra charge in their health plans.

The Globe is looking to talk to Massachusetts residents who were taking GLP-1 drugs to lose weight and are now facing challenges getting their insurers to cover the medication.
