A teenager has died in hospital a week after he was hit by a car in Melbourne’s south-east.

Police have been told the vehicle was travelling along Pound Road in Narre Warren South when it left the road and hit the 16-year-old boy before crashing into a tree about 4.30pm on February 13.

The Narre Warren South boy was flown to hospital in a critical condition.

Victoria Police released a statement today saying that the boy died on Friday.

The driver, a 48-year-old local woman, was taken to hospital after the crash with minor injuries.

“Investigators are still establishing the exact circumstances surrounding the collision,” a police spokesperson said.
