World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants does what it says on the tin. Every year in May, the London-based guide drops an annual ranking of the world’s hottest grills, assessed by a network of “steak ambassadors” visiting hundreds of venues across five continents.

Australia crushed it last year, with 17 restaurants making the list. Sydney dominated with 11 entries and was named the “Best Steak City in the World”. Neil Perry’s luxe Double Bay diner, Margaret, came second overall.

Ahead of its 2026 global ranking, the guide rolled out an Australian top 30 on social media over the weekend. As expected, Margaret took first place, but Perry scored a deuce with his Italian stallion, Gran Torino – also in Double Bay – landing at seven.

Lennox Hastie’s Firedoor took second spot, followed by Aalia in third. Meanwhile, Brisbane’s Agnes scored highest outside Sydney at four, with Jake Kellie’s Arkhé, in Adelaide, at five. From Melbourne, Steer Dining Room placed sixth and Victor Churchill took eighth. The International and Porteño rounded out the Sydney set at nine and ten, respectively.
