A man has been charged after a group of men armed with a gun allegedly broke into a home in Sydney’s west and stole an Audi.
Officers first responded to reports of the alleged break-in at The Horsley Drive in Smithfield at 10am on Friday.
Police were told a 48-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were inside their home when the three men allegedly broke into the premises and threatened the pair.
The woman was reportedly struck with an object and received minor injuries while the man was not injured.
It is alleged the trio stole the keys to the man’s Audi sedan and left the house.

Police ultimately located the Audi in the underground carpark of a unit complex in Northumberland Street, Liverpool more than seven hours later, after a dramatic search.
The Audi has been seized for forensic examination.
Marco Pavlicic, 38, was found in a car on South Liverpool Rd in Busby and arrested on Friday.
He has since been hit with a series of charges including specially aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, in company assault with intent rob while armed dangerous weapon, use etc offensive weapon in company with intent indictable offence, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition, supply prohibited drug, and two counts of possess prohibited drug.
He will remain behind bars until at least April as he did not apply for bail on Saturday afternoon in Bail Division Court.
Mr Pavlicic’s matter was adjourned to April 15.
Specialist police earlier carried out a search of a nearby house.
