Jazz Chisholm finished third on the Yankees with a 4.2 WAR in 2025.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is set to become a free agent after the 2026 season, but he’s made it clear he enjoys playing with the New York Yankees and would like to stay in the Bronx if the two sides can reach a contract agreement.

This is the time of year when a lot of MLB organizations lock up some of their star players ahead of the season to get things out of the way and avoid any potential drama and conflict down the road. Jazz Chisholm is open to a contract extension with the Yankees, but the reports indicate that New York has not reached out to Jazz’s agents about a potential deal. A recent report reveals what Jazz would like for his contract extension to look like.

Jazz Chisholm Reveals His Ideal Contract Price Range

Jazz Chisholm recently spoke with NJ.com about the upcoming season and his upcoming free agency.

He is already making it clear to the Yankees front office what his contract price point is:

“His number is $35 million for 8-to-10 seasons.”

“NJ.com: What if it’s $25 million a year.

Chisholm: I’d say no because I know I can get $35 million somewhere else. That’s $10 million less a year.

NJ.com: How many years do you want?

Chisholm: “I’m 28. I want 8-to-10 years.”

Jazz hit 31 home runs and stole 31 bases last season, and is certainly regarded as one of the best second basemen in MLB, so his original demands are not far-fetched at all. However, do the Yankees want to open up the checkbook for Jazz? That will be a huge storyline in the 2026 season.

An 8-year contract worth $35 million AAV would be a $280 million contract evaluation.

As Jazz mentions, he’s just 28 and is set to hit the open market for the first time in his career. Why not shoot for the stars?

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Also Eyeing 50/50 Season

Jazz Chisholm is emerging as a very colorful character in MLB, and for the right reason.

When asked about his 2026 season, Jazz sets lofty goals for himself, attempting to become just the second player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bags in a season.

The two-time All-Star won his first Silver Slugger award in 2025 and posted a 4.2 bWAR over 130 games,

Jazz stole 40 bases in 2024, but his 31 home runs last season were a career-high. The 50 stolen bases seem a lot more plausible than hitting 50 home runs, but if Jazz does happen to reach the 50 home run mark, that will force the Yankees’ hand in extending Jazz for whatever price he wants.
