LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men’s tennis continued its dominant weekend with a 7-0 sweep of Weber State on Sunday afternoon at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club.
Doubles
USU took hold of the match early in doubles play as sophomores Eliot Nobel and Roman Venger led the charge with a 6-3 win at the third position of the lineup. Senior Jean-Baptiste Badon and sophomore Dmitri Goubin then secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. At the top spot in the lineup, sophomore Xavier Calvelo and freshman Jakub Medved were in a 5-5 battle when the match was left unfinished.
Singles
The Aggies claimed straight-sets victories at five of six positions of the singles lineup en route to the 7-0 victory. Venger was the first Aggie across the finish line with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Nobel followed seconds later with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the fourth position to make it 3-0 for USU. Calvelo then won the race for clinching honors, taking the win at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-2. Badon outlasted his opponent in a three-set battle at the top spot in the lineup, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. Medved dominated his match at the fifth position from the onset for a 6-0, 6-1 victory before sophomore Eemil Pasanen completed the clean sweep with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles.

Utah State returns to action with a pair of road matches in the Sunshine State, taking on Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday, March 8, at 10 a.m. (MT), and Florida Atlantic on Tuesday, March 10, at noon (MT).
