Allegra Spender MP, the Independent MP for Wentworth, will Address the National Press Club of Australia on “Tax White Paper #1: Personal Taxation Fit for the Future”.

Ahead of the May Budget, the best opportunity for tax reform in a generation, Allegra Spender is launching the first in a series of Tax White Papers, setting out costed budget-neutral options for tax reform to tackle Australia’s most difficult challenges. The first White Paper will focus on the personal tax system and set out proposals that help restore intergenerational equity by rebalancing the tax system to deliver lower income taxes for working Australians.

Allegra Spender, the Independent MP for Wentworth, was elected to parliament in 2022. Allegra has an Economics degree from Cambridge University, and studied at the University of London and Harvard, before working for UK Treasury, at McKinsey, as Managing Director of Carla Zampatti Pty Ltd, chair of Sydney Renewable Power Company, and CEO of the Australian Business and Community Network.

Over the last three years she has focused on tax reform, convening a series of roundtables with leading stakeholders and economists, before releasing her Tax Green Paper in November 2024.
