Security cameras are hardly anything new, but they can cost a pretty penny, and depending on how deep your urge and pockets are to protect your home, the price tag can really impact things. Should you spend hundreds of dollars, or is there an option to spend less?
Thanks in part to the cost of technology really coming down over the years, we’re seeing recent security camera entrants look to deliver on price, and Amazon’s Blink is definitely one of those.
One two security cameras connected with the massive online store, Blink joins Ring in offering security cameras, albeit in a slightly different way. While Ring launched its gear acting as a bouncer for the door, Blink is more like a stick-on camera for anywhere about the home, and built to be fairly inexpensive.
Launched back in late 2024, Blink’s assortment of cameras started at $69 per camera for Full HD, but needed to be wired. The Outdoor camera was $149 by comparison, bringing wireless camera support.

Now, Blink is upgrading the tech for the Outdoor 2K+, a model that brings an IP65 water resistance rating and 2K’s 2560×1440 screen resolution, giving you a rough zoom of 4X, and even colour low-light video.
The price is particularly interesting, with the Blink Outdoor 2K+ set to cost $119 per camera, though you will likely want a plan.
While not every security camera solution needs a plan, Blink’s definitely read like they do.
There is a free option supporting up to five minutes of live view and motion activated notifications, but no recorded moments. By comparison, the Blink basic plan runs at $5 per month or $50 per year to get recorded moments, backup, detection of people and vehicles, and basically everything you’d expect a security camera to do.

You can kind of see why Blink’s cameras are made to be inexpensive, pushing you to the subscription model, which while optional also feels necessary given the difference in features when one has a plan and one does not.
For many that may be just fine, though. With one Blink Outdoor 2K+ costing $119, two for $219, three for $299, and five for $399, the savings on hardware may just about help you deal with the cost of a plan.
Amazon’s Blink Outdoor 2K+ is available in stores and online across Australia now.
