Polish submission grappling sensation Pawel Jaworski revealed his game plan for challenging ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion Tye Ruotolo. The high-stakes clash takes place in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 41, going down live in U.S. primetime at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, March 13.

The 21-year-old, who is the reigning IBJJF No-Gi World Champion, discussed his surprise at receiving a title shot in his promotional debut. Pawel Jaworski analyzed Ruotolo’s game to identify leg locks as a potential weakness worth exploiting during their 10-minute title clash.

Pawel Jaworski, a Warsaw native who trains at Academia Gorila, brings an impressive resume as one of Europe’s best young grapplers. He earned his black belt at just 21 years old while capturing gold medals at No-Gi Pans, No-Gi Europeans, and No-Gi Worlds.

Pawel Jaworski detailed receiving contact from ONE Championship between the semifinal and final rounds of IBJJF Worlds in December. The young Polish grappler expressed shock and happiness about facing the division’s dominant champion in his debut.

“For sure, I was surprised. We got contacted by ONE between the semifinal and the final of IBJJF Worlds in December. So I was a bit shocked, but I was very happy to get this fight with Tye,” Pawel Jaworski said.

Ruotolo brings a perfect 10-0 promotional record with six finishes into this title defense. The 23-year-old American champion returns to submission grappling after securing two MMA victories, including impressive wins over teenage prospect Adrian “The Phenom” Lee and Japanese veteran Shozo Isojima.

European Champion Identifies Leg Locks as Focus

Jaworski recognized the American’s status as the world’s best while revealing his focus on leg attacks. The Polish challenger explained how studying previous defeats helped identify potential vulnerabilities in the champion’s otherwise dominant skill set.

“It’s hard to say what weaknesses he has. He’s the best in the world right now. But I was watching his matches, and most of the matches that he lost were probably by leg locks or by decision. So I’m looking to go into this area of grappling in his game because maybe it can be his weakness. So, I hope it’s gonna work,” Jaworski explained.

Despite lacking ONE Championship experience, the Academia Gorila representative’s youth and proven track record make him a dangerous opponent. His IBJJF World Championship credentials validate his readiness to compete at the sport’s highest levels.

Black Belt Pawel Jaworski Aims to Showcase Elite Leg Lock Game

Looking ahead to the title clash, Pawel Jaworski outlined his goals for the contest and his hope to submit Ruotolo. The 21-year-old Polish challenger also expressed hope their matchup will produce entertaining action for global fans.

“My goal for this match is to show my best side. I would like to use my best weapons. Of course, I would like to look for the leg locks. I hope we will give a great fight for the people to watch,” Jaworski said.

The 10-minute format favors aggressive submission hunting over conservative point-fighting strategies. Both grapplers possess finishing ability that promises action-packed exchanges as Jaworski seeks to dethrone the dominant American champion in his promotional debut.

ONE Fight Night 41 airs live on Prime Video on Friday, March 13. The action begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The event is free for all Amazon Prime subscribers in the U.S. and Canada.
