South Australia have continued their strong run of form, winning by 26 runs against the ACT Meteors in Canberra.

Veteran spinner Amanda‑Jade Wellington etched her name into South Australian cricket history, bringing up 100 WNCL games just days after overtaking Lisa Sthalekar as the all‑time leading wicket‑taker in the league’s history.

After winning our tenth consecutive toss, South Australia were in early trouble, losing three wickets for just 37 runs.

However, a defiant partnership between Courtney Webb (61) and Holly Armitage (49) brought SA back into the game.

Their stand set the platform for skipper Jemma Barsby (85 off 66 balls) and Bridget Patterson (47), who piled on 125 runs for the sixth‑wicket partnership.

With the ball, South Australia broke through early thanks to a pearler of a delivery from Courtney Neale.

Her efforts were quickly followed by an important run‑out from Armitage before Wellington struck in her 100th game.

All‑rounder Maddie Penna was pivotal with the ball, claiming three crucial middle‑order wickets.

South Australia now sit third on the WNCL ladder, with two games remaining in the season.

Our side will take on NSW at Adelaide Oval on March 12 and 14.
