Celtic v Rangers – Season in numbers 2025/26
John Beaton will take charge of Sunday’s Scottish Premiership showdown at Ibrox.
Rangers host Celtic in the first instalment of a league and Scottish Cup double header and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
After both dropped points at the weekend following Hearts’ win over Falkirk on Sunday, the loser could see their title hopes fatally harmed.
A draw would suit Derek McInnes and his players down to the ground, provided they take care of business against his former club Aberdeen on Saturday.
Whoever takes charge of this one is under scrutiny, but that will be ramped up this week following controversial calls in both games last Sunday.

Bojan Miovski of Rangers battles for the ball with Liam Scales of Celtic
Celtic had Auston Trusty sent off for violent conduct after a VAR review, before Liam Scales looked to be denied a penalty immediately afterwards.
At Livingston, Mikey Moore was wiped out while taking a shot deep into stoppage time, but neither Ryan Lee nor VAR thought it was even a foul, never mind a red card for Cammy Kerr.
Beaton is the man charged with keeping a lid on things between the big two. He’ll be assisted by David McGeachie and Calum Spence.
Steven McLean is the man in the VAR room at Clydesdale House with Kevin Clancy alongside him.
