The new bride on Married At First Sight has revealed how much she’s making in the outside world and it’s left some Aussies shocked. Stephanie Marshall landed on national television on Monday night as she was married with 30-year-old Tyson Gordon in a slightly awkward ceremony.

The Brisbane-based real estate agent said she’s incredibly driven and has been focused on working her way up the ladder. But she’s revealed to jobs app GetAhead how much money she’s been able to pull in.

“Last year, I did about $680,000,” she said.

The 32-year-old works at Harcourts Property Centre in Wellington Point, Brisbane and she has a five-star rating after nearly 70 reviews.

RealEstate.com.au shows she helped sell more than two dozen properties in the last 12 months as lead and secondary agent, and she’s got four currently up for sale.

The median price for the homes that have been snapped up was $920,000, with her most expensive being $1.87 million.

Based on that median price, she sold close to $24 million worth of homes in the last 12 months.

Keep in mind that MAFS is filmed between July to October, so she had a break from selling homes. However, it’s unclear how long she will last in the experiment.

While Stephanie didn’t disclose her commission while talking to GetAhead, she said the average in Brisbane is between 2-3 per cent.

Based on how many properties she sold, that range would give her between $478,400 to $717,600 in one year.

Aussies can’t believe how much you can make in property

People who saw the TikTok video were blown away by how much she was pulling in.

“It’s ridiculous the amount of commission they get,” one said.

“Let’s hope these wages aren’t seen in the future. That’s not acceptable,” added another.

But an eagle-eyed viewer mentioned something else in the short clip.

“Is that a ring we see?” they said.

It’s hard to know exactly when this video was filmed, but if it was recently and Stephanie is still wearing her wedding ring, that could indicate that her and Tyson go the distance.

The 32-year-old urged people wanting to get into the real estate industry to put in the hard yards if they want to make the type of money she’s making.

“Real estate is one of those jobs that you’ve got the capacity to earn great money if you’re willing to put in the work,” she said.

“But you’re on that phone all day, every day. It’s all about relationships.

“Join a team before you go out on your own, get an understanding of how the business works. Get an understanding of the groundwork and laying those foundations.”

She explained how she worked her way up from the bottom to pulling in more than half a million dollars.

“I literally started as a receptionist at the age of 17, went into property management, sales, advertising, executive assistant, sales, admin, and just grew from there,” she added.

Do MAFS contestants get paid to be on the show?

Contestants usually have to take about three months off work when they sign up to the Channel 9 show.

They might not need all that time if they leave the experiment early, but those who last all the way to the end will be out of work for roughly a quarter of the year.

An unnamed 2025 participant on the Channel 9 show told Yahoo Lifestyle it was a shock to the system when they saw how much they’d be getting.

“Nothing could prepare me for what I had signed up for and while you do get sucked in by the glitz and glamour the remuneration is appalling,” they said.

“You get $150 a day plus a $128 food allowance for the week.

“All up you get $1,178. The way we are paid as ‘contributors’ and not as a proper job is how they can pay you so little.”

They went on to say long days filming and dinner parties going well past midnight don’t get you any extra compensation.

“Some shoots were twenty hours and paying us as ‘contributors’ is a loophole that allows for no overtime,” the source said.

“The weekly ‘dinner parties’ could go well past midnight and the ‘commitment ceremonies’ averaged between 8 and 12 hours.”
