English-set cosy crime drama The Marlow Murder Club will return for season three on Wednesday 18 March. Starring Samantha Bond, Jo Martin (Doctor Who) and Cara Horgan as the quirky female leads, Death in Paradise creator Robert Thorogood’s murder mystery series will pick up with the amateur sleuths as they get stuck into the latest case in the quiet English, riverside town of Marlow.

The three will be joined by Natalie Dew’s detective Tanika Malik as they continue to insert themselves into her cases, but this time in a more official capacity.

The synopsis for the upcoming series reads: “Now an established part of newly promoted DI Tanika Malik’s crime solving team, retired archaeologist Judith Potts (Bond), dogwalker Suzie Harris (Martin) and vicar’s wife Becks Starling (Horgan) are back and bringing their unconventional methods to a string of high -profile murders. But it soon becomes clear to the amateur sleuths that this time their investigations may hit closer to home than ever before.

“From the sudden death of the kindest man in Marlow, the town’s beloved Mayor, to a celebrity chef found dead at the launch of his cookbook with half the town in attendance, the team will be working under the watchful eye of the Marlow community.”

The synopsis continues: “They’ll also be called to an eerie manor house in the middle of nowhere where they’ll face a case intrinsically linked to Becks’ past that could threaten the future of their roles as civilian advisors. Judith, Suzie and Becks will have to pull closer together than ever to catch these killers.”

This season’s guest stars include Peter Davison, Ranjit Krishnamma, Tony Gardner, Harry Enfield and Jason Forbes and more. Bond praised them all as “spectacular” during a press-release interview before going on to share her favourite thing about the murder mystery’s season three.

“All the scripts have been amazing,” said Bond. “And the twists are phenomenal but the ones in ‘An Appetite for Murder’ (the third storyline) are colossal. I defy anyone to work them out.”

When responding to her hopes for the longevity of the show Bond said: “It is my hope [that it will be long-running and every bit of me is crossed. There are now so many people who have seen it. At the end of the summer, we spent a week on a small island in Greece and just about everyone there had watched it.”
