After pricing was released earlier this month, we now have full specifications for the GWM Tank 300 Hi4-T plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

Available in Lux and Ultra grades, the Tank 300 PHEV will arrive in GWM’s Australian showrooms from early April 2026.

The large off-road SUV’s new PHEV option uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine like the existing petrol and hybrid Tank 300, but brings a larger 37.11kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery.

This offers 115km of electric-only range on the NEDC cycle and 955km of total combined range, with CO2 emissions of 43g/km.

GWM claims combined-cycle fuel consumption of 1.9L/100km, rising to 8.3L/100km when the battery has low charge – still narrowly beating the regular hybrid, which averages 8.4L/100km.

Total system outputs are 300kW and 750Nm, and the 0-100km/h sprint is accomplished in a brisk 6.3 seconds (claimed).

The new PHEV variants also bring a new Tow Mode, which is so far exclusive to the Lux PHEV and Ultra PHEV. And in terms of capability, ground clearance only shrinks by 2mm, and there’s still a part-time four-wheel drive system with selectable low-range gearing, plus crawl control and turn assist features.

There’s also a PHEV-exclusive exterior paint finish called Sundrift Sand. This replaces the Lunar Red colour available for the rest of the range.

There are no changes to the rest of the Tank 300 lineup, though discounted pricing is currently being offered by GWM for petrol, diesel and hybrid variants.

The Tank 300 is the latest GWM model to gain a PHEV powertrain option in Australia, following the larger Tank 500, the Haval H6 mid-size SUV, and the Cannon Alpha ute.

GWM claims a 30 to 80 per cent charge of the Tank 300 Hi4-T’s battery will take 24 minutes on a 50kW DC fast-charger, while vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability allows you to power external electrical devices at up to 6kW.

Servicing and Warranty

The 2026 GWM Tank 300 is backed by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty and seven years of roadside assistance. The hybrid battery pack has an eight-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

After the first service at 12 months or 10,000km, scheduled maintenance is required every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.

GWM has yet to announce service pricing for the PHEVs.
