The Hawks have dismantled the Magpies in a key win at the MCG

HAWTHORN has impressively crushed Collingwood by 64 points to take a giant step towards sealing a finals berth.

The Hawks ripped the Magpies apart with a seven-goal second quarter and never looked back on their way to a 17.8 (110) to 6.10 (46) win at the MCG on Thursday night.

With its win, Hawthorn improved to 14-7 and climbed into fifth, while the Pies (15-6) have now lost four of their past five games, falling to defeat in Steele Sidebottom’s 350th AFL match.

Jai Newcombe (28 disposals, seven clearances and a goal) starred for the Hawks, Jack Gunston kicked four majors and Nick Watson (14 disposals and two goals) lit them up early.

Nick Daicos (24 disposals and six clearances) worked hard for the Magpies in what was a disappointing defeat, with important defender Jeremy Howe concussed in a collision with Newcombe in the opening minutes.
