As early as November 2024, Disney shared that it was exploring ways to preserve the MuppetVision 3D film ahead of its closure. In May 2025, Cast Members shared that a special “archival filming” event of MuppetVision 3D was taking place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and that they had received invitations to serve as audience members for the filming.

Now, we know one way in which that footage is being implemented. According to a report from AppleInsider, we can soon relive the Muppetational experience in VR:

Jim Henson’s son Brian Henson has confirmed that we can expect something to arrive on VR headsets and Apple Vision Pro, but that’s about all we know.

The Daily Dot provided more details, obtained from a recent Q&A event with the puppeteer:

“It’s better than it not coming to VR,” Henson joked.

The creative went on to explain that they did a thorough job capturing the show for the VR experience. He said that users will be able to sit in any seat in the house while watching Muppet*Vision, changing up the view.

So far, the only confirmed VR hardware for the eventual release is the Apple Vision Pro, but it sounds like a wider release for other headsets is planned.

MuppetVision 3D closed permanently on June 7, 2025. The former Muppets Courtyard is currently being demolished to be transformed into Monstropolis, a Monsters, Inc.-themed land. The theater, which was custom-built for the show, will likely house a new show when the area becomes Monstropolis.

Even though MuppetVision 3D and the Muppets Courtyard are gone, The Muppets will continue to have a presence at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with a retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, with The Electric Mayhem taking over for Aerosmith.
