Dario Amodei, the chief executive of artificial intelligence giant Anthropic, was whisked through the Swiss alpine village from stage to stage, painting a “nightmare” scenario where 10 million-odd people would enjoy half of the globe’s economic growth, and warning that automation was coming for white-collar jobs. First to go in the knowledge worker armageddon, in as little as six to 12 months, would be software engineers.
