Have Formula 1 regulators been too clever by half? This year brings the most significant changes to F1 cars since they went hybrid in 2014, in the hope it will create closer racing. After all, only four drivers stood on the top step of the podium last season, and many Grand Prix races were processional because overtaking was difficult.
But the sheer complexity of the new rules and regulations may bamboozle race fans, and the minutiae of such unsexy things as lift-off regen and super-clipping – which we’ll come to shortly – may need to be a big part of the television commentary.
