While it’s still too early to assume how Avengers: Doomsday will play out until it hits theaters later this year, words about the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie have been positive so far.

Following a recent report regarding Disney executives believing Avengers: Doomsday will top the box office and is reportedly happy with it, an online post suggests that the latest MCU outing has an “amazing” plot.

What’s the latest update on the Avengers: Doomsday plot?

A social media insider under the username @Cryptic4KQual, known for delivering film and TV updates as well as MCU-related news, teased on X (formerly Twitter) that “The plot of [Avengers:] Doomsday is great.” However, the initial post turned out to be an understatement.

The user revealed that the Avengers: Doomsday plot is not only “amazing,” but also a mixture of Jonathan Hickman’s comic book stories (particularly New Avengers and Secret Wars) and the MCU’s key story.

“I’m actually [downplaying] it. It’s AMAZING. It’s literally [Jonathan Hickman’s] New Avengers/Secret Wars Run with the MCU’s mainline story weaved in,” the X post reads.

Avengers: Doomsday is anticipated to be one of the biggest films to be released this year, with David Harbour — who is set to return in the MCU as Red Guardian — teasing that the “movie is huge,” even going as far as to say that it even surpassed Stranger Things 5’s scale.

The forthcoming film’s directors, Anthony and Joe Russo (creatively known as the Russo Brothers), promised that the movie’s narrative will be more complex, saying that it will even reach a “new level.”

The movie will mark the return of Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU as Doctor Doom. Other MCU stars confirmed to be reprising their roles for the movie are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, among others.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
