Joe Rogan weighed in on the hilarious mishap by the promotion in misidentifying Terence Crawford as Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar.
Boxing legend Terence Crawford recently hung up the gloves after his win over Canelo Alvarez last year. Crawford is regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, and he transformed himself into a global superstar with his victory over Alvarez.
Outside of boxing, Crawford remains an avid fan of UFC fights, despite his critical remarks about the differences between the two sports. He’s seen at numerous high-profile UFC events, including the promotion’s lone card at the Las Vegas Sphere in 2024.
While sitting Octagonside with Turki Alalshikh at UFC 306, Crawford was seen on the broadcast during the UFC’s ‘crowd cam’ segment. The problem: the byline underneath Crawford’s live image read ‘Kendrick Lamar’, in a clip that went viral on social media.
Crawford believes the gaffe was purposeful, but Joe Rogan explained to the boxing legend what happened leading up to the mistake.

In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, after Crawford accused the UFC of purposely staging the gaffe, Rogan wasn’t having it.

“No. No way. No way. No, no, no, it was just some moron in the truck,” Rogan said to Crawford.
“No. 100 percent, they did not do that on purpose. No one in the UFC would ever disrespect you like that. No one would disrespect you like that. No chance.
“They did not do that on purpose. That was just some dumba– that thought that you were Kendrick Lamar for some reason. It was so stupid. And then I think they corrected it later in the broadcast. I don’t know who it was. I didn’t want to know. I’d yell at them.” (h/t Bloody Elbow)
