San Francisco | On Wednesday, Sameer Samat, the man in charge of the Android operating system at Google, took to the stage to show a remarkable new feature his company has been working on with its partner Samsung, the largest manufacturer of Android phones.
Speaking at the “Unpacked” launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S26 family of phones, Samat showed an artificial intelligence agent – a piece of software, running on the phone, that can act autonomously on a user’s behalf – reading a family group chat about a pizza night, and then ordering all the items mentioned in the chat via a local pizza store’s app, before coming back to confirm the order
