WASHINGTON – A national TV audience tuned in to yet another Friday night masterpiece of a basketball game at GW. Unlike the Friday the 13th thriller of a win against Mason, this time it was George Washington on the wrong end of heartbreak.

After a Tyrone Marshall Jr. lay-in with :46 to go put the Revolutionaries ahead 66-64, the final four points of the game went the way of Dayton, all coming from the free throw line where the Flyers made 17-of-21 (.810) on the night. Conversely, GW left 13 points at the line, including a pair with :20 ticks to go, in a 16-of-29 effort (.552).

Rafael Castro scored 16 points to lead four GW players into double figures, with Trey Autry (15), Jean Aranguren (12) and Marshall (12) just behind.

Javon Bennett led all scorers with 25 to give Dayton the road win.

The Friday night game allows GW a bit of extra rest to get ready for Senior Night against St. Bonaventure. Tip time for the regular season home finale is 7 p.m. on Wednesday, live on ESPN+ and Monumental Sports Network.
