SeaWorld San Diego will host its first-ever professional boxing event tonight, Feb. 27. No Boxing No Life is a boxing equipment brand that was founded by Canelo Álvarez’s trainer, Eddy Reynoso. Tonight, they will be holding the Adrian “El Raton” Torres vs. Marco Juarez fight, along with other co-events for the public to see in the theme park’s Nautilus Amphitheater.

Weigh-in

The day before the fights, Mujeres Brewhouse held the weigh-ins for the boxers. The boxers and their opponents had to face off a day early to see whether the fighters met their agreed-upon weight; if not, they would incur a penalty.

Franklin Garcia vs. Marco Rosales

To start the weigh-ins, Franklin Garcia from Vista hopped on the scale. The goal for both fighters was to be 142 pounds or less, as they are in the super lightweight division. Garcia weighed 141 pounds, which was a great weight for this fight.

His opponent, Marco Rosales, from Las Vegas, was next on the scale. He was overweight at 143 pounds. If Rosales did not lose the pound in 2 hours, he would face a 10% fine. Their fight today will be four rounds, and it will be the first of the night.

Brayan Leon vs. Aaron Casper

Representing Miami, fighter Brayan Leon mounted on the scale before his opponent and was shown to weigh 168 pounds. His competitor, Aaron Casper from Georgia, was second to be weighed. He weighed 169.6 pounds, which was right as expected. This fight will be the second of the night, with eight rounds in the super middleweight division.

Rockman Somo vs. Brandon Mendoza

Planned for six rounds, the third fight of the night will be Rockman Somo vs. Brandon Mendoza. From San Diego, Somo weighed 147 pounds. His opponent, Brandon Mendoza from Panorama City, California, weighed 145 pounds. No one is to be seen overweight in this fight.

Diego Luna vs. Ángel Archuleta

An expected six-round super lightweight bout is the event before the main event, Diego “El Zorrito” Luna vs. Angel Archuleta. From San Diego, Luna was the first to be weighed on the scale before his opponent, and was held at 139.8 pounds. Archuleta, his opponent from Visalia, California, was next. Weighing in at 140.6 pounds, he had to lose 0.6 pounds, or he would face a loss of 20% of his earnings.

The Main Event: Adrian Torres vs. Marco Juarez

Both fighters from Tijuana, Mexico, Adrian Torres and Marco Juarez, are the main fighters of the night with an eight-round match in the lightweight division. Thirteen victories, no defeats, one draw, and 11 of those victories being from knockouts, is Adrian “El Rato” Torres. He came in on the scale at 134.6 pounds. His opponent, Marco Antonio Juarez, took a while to get onto the scale, but when he did, it was not as you would hope. Juarez was overweight at 136 pounds. If 1.5 pounds were not lost in two hours, he would face a 10% fine from his earnings.

Fight Night is tonight in SeaWorld’s Amphitheater, Friday, Feb. 27, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and fights beginning at 6:30 p.m.
