ROCHESTER, Mich. – For the second straight season, the Oakland women’s golf team is headed to Aiken, South Carolina, to compete in the “More Than Golf” Invitational presented by Bank of America.
The “More Than Golf” Invitational is a women’s collegiate golf tournament for mid-major programs, founded by the ANNIKA Foundation and co-hosted by Augusta University and Columbia University. The 54-hole event will be played over three days at Old Barnwell Golf Club, a par-73, 6,265-yard course.
The tournament is designed to provide an exceptional, high-quality competitive golf experience and opportunities for life and career development. Programming will include relationship-building opportunities through a College-Am held before the tournament, as well as an Executive Women’s reception and dinner, where players can meet and build relationships with successful women across a variety of industries. The individual medalist will receive up to three complimentary starts on the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour throughout the summer.
In the inaugural event last season, Oakland placed ninth in the 12-team field. Senior Grace Boczar led the Golden Grizzlies with a 28th-place finish and a three-round total of 232 (+13). Juniors Olivia Hemmila and Lily Bargamian followed with scores of 237 (+18) and 238 (+19), respectively, while senior Paige Scott competed in the first two rounds.
Twelve teams will compete in this year’s invitational: Augusta, Columbia, Alabama State, Denver, Fairleigh Dickinson, Illinois State, Morehead State, Oakland, Radford, Richmond, Southern Mississippi, and Tulsa. Only the host schools, Augusta and Columbia, along with Oakland and Illinois State, return from last year’s inaugural field.
Oakland will travel its entire roster, with Hemmila, Boczar, Bargamian, Scott, and freshman Logan Bentley comprising the team lineup, and freshman Channing Hagen competing as an individual.
Action begins Sunday at 10:30 a.m. (ET) and continues through Tuesday. The Golden Grizzlies will tee off on hole one with Columbia and Radford, beginning at 11:20 a.m.
Live scoring for each round will be available on Clippd. More information about the ANNIKA Foundation and the “More Than Golf” Invitational can be found HERE.
