Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza—the presumptive No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft—delivered some strong measurables at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Saturday.
According to NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, Mendoza’s measurements were as follows:
Height: 6’4¾”Weight: 236 poundsHand Size: 9½ inchesArm Length: 31⅞ inchesWingspan: 76¾ inches
While Mendoza didn’t do drills at the combine, the Hoosiers legend received a warm welcome from the Indianapolis crowd:
After winning the Heisman Trophy and leading the Hoosiers to a perfect 16-0 record and a national championship last season, Mendoza is the heavy favorite to go first overall to the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2026 NFL draft.
Mendoza has already announced that he is not throwing at the combine, opting instead to do so at Indiana’s pro day on April 1.
He isn’t expected to take part in any other combine drills either, so Mendoza’s main purpose in Indianapolis was to get measured and partake in interviews with interested NFL teams.
On the measurement front, Mendoza passed with flying colors, as he has prototypical size for an NFL quarterback. His measurements put him close to Buffalo Bills superstar quarterback Josh Allen, who is listed at 6’5″ and 237 pounds on NFL.com.
As for the interviews, Mendoza gave a positive report on his talks with the Raiders at the combine, telling reporters, “It was a fantastic interview. The coaching staff was in there. We went over some of my previous plays, drew some plays on the board. I thought it was a great meeting, and I know they have the prospective No. 1 pick, but anything can happen in the draft. I’m just excited for the opportunity. Whatever team drafts me, I’m just going to give everything I have to them.”
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport (h/t SI.com’s Carter Landis) had an encouraging report regarding Mendoza’s interview with the Raiders as well, saying, “He did have a meeting with the Las Vegas Raiders. It sounded like it went well. He was especially respectful of [Raiders minority owner and legendary NFL quarterback] Tom Brady. In fact, he kind of made everyone laugh a little bit when he said, ‘Look, I’m going to go out, work hard, do what I do, whether it’s the No. 1 overall pick, or it’s 199.'”
Mendoza is coming off one of the best seasons by a quarterback in college football history, as he completed 72.0 percent of his passes for 3,535 yards, 41 touchdowns and six interceptions, while also rushing for 276 yards and seven scores.

Additionally, he led Indiana to its first national title in the long history of the football program.
Mendoza is seemingly viewed as the top quarterback in the draft by a considerable margin, and there is arguably no team with a bigger need at quarterback than the Raiders.
They are coming off a 3-14 season in which quarterback Geno Smith and the offense struggled mightily, leading to the firing of head coach Pete Carroll after one season at the helm.
He was replaced by Klint Kubiak, who won a Super Bowl last season as the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive coordinator. In order for his offense to work in Vegas, a franchise quarterback is a must.
As of now, all signs point toward Mendoza being that guy for Kubiak, Brady and the Raiders organization.
