Stud
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder at Dallas Mavericks, $10,700
Gilgeous-Alexander (abdominal) made his return from a nine-game absence Friday vs. the Nuggets and the reigning MVP looked like himself, scoring 60.75 FPTS across 33.5 minutes in a win over the Nuggets. Jalen Williams (hamstring) missed this game and will remain out for Sunday’s matchup vs. the depleted Mavericks.
Gilgeous-Alexander has played a huge 27 games without Williams this season and Gilgeous-Alexander is producing 53.75 FPTS per game with a 34.9% usage rate in those contests. The Thunder boast the highest implied team total on the slate at 125.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook and Gilgeous-Alexander is simply too cheap at $10,700.
Other Options: Kawhi Leonard ($9,700)
Value
Jeremiah Fears, New Orleans Pelicans at Los Angeles Clippers, $4,700
With Dejounte Murray (rest) and Trey Murphy (shoulder) inactive, and Zion Williamson (ankle) exiting after only 11 minutes, Fears went off for 43.25 FPTS across 34.5 minutes off the bench in last night’s win over the Jazz. Murray will likely return tonight, but both Murphy and Williamson should be inactive.
Fears might not start, but he should see around 30 minutes and a high usage rate. With Murphy and Williamson off the court this season, Fears’ usage rate rises 3.3 percentage points to 27.9% and he generates 1.1 FPTS per minute. Ranking 18th in defensive rating, the Clippers are no matchup to fear and Fears should beat his salary with ease tonight. In the lone other game that both Murphy and Williamson missed this season, Fears finished with 30 FPTS.
Other Options: Dejounte Murray ($5,900), Quentin Grimes ($4,200), Bryce McGowens ($3,400)
Forward
Stud
Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers, $9,800
Brown has been on a tear since the All-Star break, scoring at least 57 FPTS in three of his first four starts since the layoff. The wing’s rates have been outstanding during this span, with Brown leading the Celtics with a 34.1% usage rate and a 36.4% assist rate, as well as garnering a 28.5% rebound rate.
The 29-year-old has notched two double-doubles in his last four and Brown’s impressive play should continue tonight vs. the 76ers, who will be without Joel Embiid (oblique). Philadelphia is giving up 116.8 PPG with the center sidelined this season and Brown has 50 FPTS upside.
Other Options: Paolo Banchero ($9,100), Desmond Bane ($7,400)
Value
Saddiq Bey, New Orleans Pelicans at Los Angeles Clippers, $6,300
The Pelicans just faced the Jazz for back-to-back games and Bey was brilliant during this mini-series, scoring 60.25 and 42.75 FPTS. As noted above, Murray should return tonight, but both Murphy and Williamson should be inactive and with these starters missing, Bey is in a great position to have another strong outing.
In the one other game that both Murphy and Williamson were inactive for this season, Bey scored 44.75 FPTS.
Other Options: Jonathan Kuminga ($5,900, if Jalen Johnson is out), Herbert Jones ($4,500), Karlo Matkovic ($3,600)
Center
Stud
Jalen Duren, Detroit Pistons at Orlando Magic, $8,200
Since returning from the All-Star break, Duren has been a monster, scoring 48.75, 48, 54.25 and 67 FPTS, in that order. Isaiah Stewart (suspension) being out for these games has helped, as the backup center isn’t eating into Duren’s playing time. During this four-game stretch, Duren is averaging 32.8 minutes per game, which is a notable upgrade from his 28.1 average for the season.
With Stewart still unavailable tonight, Duren should continue to handle an expanded workload and he has big upside, regardless of this being a subpar matchup vs. the Magic, who rank 13th in defensive rating this season.
Other Options: Donovan Clingan ($7,300)
Value
Precious Achiuwa, Sacramento Kings at Los Angeles Lakers, $5,700
Achiuwa has been starting at power forward for the Kings and the big man has displayed great upside, scoring over 40 FPTS in three of his last five, including a career-best 61 FPTS vs. the Mavericks in his last start this past Thursday.
Achiuwa is averaging 30.1 minutes per game since the All-Star break and this is a strong spot, as the Lakers rank 23rd in defensive this season and are playing their second game in two nights. Another double-double is within reach for Achiuwa in this spot and he is a strong choice for all formats at only $5,700.
Other Options: Daniel Gafford ($4,800)
