Draymond Green #23 of the Golden State Warriors brings the ball up the court against the Charlotte Hornets during their game at Spectrum Center on December 04, 2019 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Golden State Warriors have been one of the most consistent and successful franchises in recent NBA history. Draymond Green has been a big part of that success.
Green, who has become one of the most controversial players in the league, has also been very open with talking about the league as a whole. Whether it be other teams or players around the NBA or the league itself, he has not been shy.
With that being said, his latest comments have had to do with a change he would like to see the NBA make.
Warriors Star Draymond Green Reveals One Thing the NBA Must Change
If it were up to Green, the league would have a way to be more transparent about refereeing. As has been the case in every major sport, the NBA has had its fair share of questionable calls.
“I think, for me, there would be more transparency with refereeing,” Green said. “In my opinion, I think that would be great for the league. Everybody sees everything on front street except this thing. And yet this is the thing people question the most.”
Green also posed a question to the league about why there isn’t more transparency about refereeing.
“So why is everything that happens in the NBA on front street in front of the world for everyone to see except what happens with referees?” Green added. “When they’re missing calls, when things don’t seem right, what happens? Like we don’t know. But when the player does something wrong, you know right away.”
Honestly, he makes a great point. If a player gets a technical or a mistake off of the court, they are punished by the league. However, there has been no notice if officials are penalized for missing calls. That should change with more transparency.
What Is the Current State of the Golden State Warriors?
At one point just a few years back, the Warriors were consistently an NBA Finals favorite. That has started changing over the last couple of seasons.
Golden State currently holds a 31-29 record. That has them placed No. 8 in the Western Conference standings. If the season were to end today, the Warriors would have to win in the NBA Play-In Tournament to get into the playoffs.
Stephen Curry and Green aren’t getting any younger. It’s possible that Golden State’s era of being a championship contender with its current core has come and gone.
Despite that possibility, both Green and Curry have remained loyal to the Warriors. They’re hoping to make a run in the next couple of years, but there is an uphill battle ahead to make that goal become a reality.
