The chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, General Dan “Razin” Caine, said more US troops were headed to the region but declined to give specifics.
“We have more tactical aviation flowing into theatre,” he said.
“We’re just about where we want to be in terms of total combat capacity and total combat power.“
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed there were no US boots on the ground in Iran but said he would not discuss what the military may or may not do in the future.
Without naming any countries, Caine warned America’s adversaries not to try to take advantage of US forces being engaged in the Middle East.
“America’s joint force retains the credibility, capacity and flexibility to respond to any continue anywhere in the world at any time,” Hegseth said.
“To those who would test our resolve, or threaten the United States, our allies or our interests, understand clearly we can reach you, we can sustain the fight and we can scale the fight, and we will prevail.”
