Due to the renewed security concerns and the EuroLeague’s suspension of games, Maccabi Tel Aviv will regroup and train in Belgrade, while Hapoel Tel Aviv will reestablish their operational base in Sofia.

Following the EuroLeague’s official announcement of another suspension of games, both Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv have shared updates on their current situations.

Amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Hapoel confirmed that the team is traveling to Athens and will then continue on to Sofia, Bulgaria.

There, the club plans to reestablish a full operational base to ensure players and staff have the necessary support and proper working conditions.

Maccabi, meanwhile, will reconvene in Belgrade to resume training due to the current security concerns.

Following their recent EuroLeague game against Monaco, five Maccabi players joined their respective national teams for international duty: Roman Sorkin, Tamir Blatt, and Gur Lavi (Israel), Marcio Santos (Brazil), and Jaylen Hoard (France).

The club also stated that the remaining players were given time off during the international break. However, Lonnie Walker IV, who traveled to the UAE for a short rest period, has been unable to return due to the sudden change in the global security situation.

According to Partizan president Ostoja Mijailovic, there are currently 14 EuroLeague players and one coach, Sarunas Jasikevicius, in Dubai.

Both Israeli clubs had returned to hosting EuroLeague home games in Israel in December this season.

At the start of the campaign, however, they were forced to play abroad: Maccabi hosted games in Belgrade at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall, while Hapoel played its home matches in Sofia at Arena 8888.

Maccabi initially relocated to Belgrade in October 2023 due to the war between Israel and Palestine, while Hapoel are competing in their first-ever EuroLeague season.
