The Young and the Restless said goodbye to Jermaine Rivers this week when a dagger killed Damian. As Parade reported, Rivers spoke out following his sudden exit, admitting he knew his time was up.

Talking to X the other day, Rivers took a moment to shout out one of his former co-stars. River worked with many talented people on the CBS soap, but actress Valarie Pettiford (Amy) left a lasting impression on him.

“The Love I have for this Woman as a scene partner is unmatched!! Valerie always understood the Assignment and Always LOCKED in 💪🏾💕…#ThrowbackThursdays #YR,” he wrote as the caption on the X showing a very powerful video of Damian and Amy.

Fans were quick to jump into the comments section to agree with Rivers and share their thoughts on the dynamic between him and Pettiford.

“Your dynamic together was beautiful. They could have taken that so much farther. Another unnecessary loss on #YR,” stated a fan. One fan added, “I’m going to miss your dynamic! Y’all showed such a great reconciliation of a Mother and Son’s relationship 👏👏👏💙.”

A different fan shared, “Amy is a fan favorite! I’m dreading the scenes when she finds out her Damian is gone. 😢.” That sentiment was echo in another comment that read, “I’m not sure I’m going to be able to watch , when she is told her son was killed 🥲. Im sure I’ll watch but I will be heartbroken 💔 for her.”

“Sadly they’ll be no more scenes like it,” wrote one fan. Other comments include, “I am so sad that you are leaving Y&R” and “Surely going to miss you!!!! ♥️.”

Despite only being on The Young and the Restlessfor a few months, Rivers is celebrating Damian’s role in a major storyline. Speaking withSoap Opera Digest, Rivers made it clear there are no hard feelings.

The actor knew what he was getting into and is celebrating being part of the Aristotle Dumas drama leading to Cane’s (Billy Flynn) return.

“I was a huge part of that, and I’m honored. And I won’t walk back and look at it from a negative lens,” the actor told the outlet.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
