LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore Gaby Coutts (Burnet, Texas/Cedar Park) has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week in women’s tennis for the week of February 23-March 1 by the conference office. This is the first time the sophomore has been picked for the conference’s weekly award.
Coutts won all three matches, two in doubles and one in singles in a pair of contests last week. On Friday against Division II East Stroudsburg, Coutts teamed up with Isabella Sorhegui at third doubles to take a 7-6 (7-1) win over the Warriors’ Bega Gotor and Nia Vivas Montoya. In Saturday’s 6-1 victory against visiting Goucher, she teamed up with Carrie Lord at third doubles to top the Gophers’ Lydia Hurst and Kendra Lanese 6-0, and in singles at the six spot, downed Lanese 6-0, 6-0.
This is the second time this season a member of Shorewomen Tennis has secured the conference’s weekly award as Juanita Arbelaez captured it on February 17.
