SeaWorld San Diego hosted its first-ever professional boxing event on Friday, Feb. 26. No Boxing No Life brought 5 entertaining fights in one night and gave many young fighters the spotlight, with the main event Adrian Torres vs. Marco Juarez.

Franklin Garcia vs. Marco Rosales

The first fight of the night was Vista, California’s Franklin Garcia vs. Las Vegas’ Marco Rosales. This fight was Gracia’s professional debut and he did not fail to shock the crowd. As soon as the first round started, he dominated the match and kept Rosales on his feet, but not for long. Not until Round 2 did Garcia drop Rosales, and later on, KO’d him, marking the first KO of the night, and ending the first fight before starting Round 3, bringing the supposed 4 Round fight to an end early, and championing the debut fighter, Garcia, in the super lightweight division match.

Brayan Leon vs. Aaron Casper

The Brayan Leon vs. Aaron Casper fight was the second fight of this event, competing in the super middleweight division. Leon went into this fight with a winning streak of 10-0-0, while Casper’s record was 9-12- 2. Both fighters were going head-to-head and looking pretty strong. The Cuban fighter, Leon, came into Round 2 incredibly strong. Still, a clear winner was indicated at round 3, with his left hook to the head bringing Casper down, splat on the ground, with a KO and unable to get up in time to continue the fight, shortening what was supposed to be an 8-round fight to 3, making Leon the winner.

Rockman Somo vs. Brandon Mendoza

The fight before the two most anticipated ones was San Diego-born boxer Rockman Somo vs. Panorama City boxer Brandon Mendoza. With Somo’s streak being 9-0-0 and Mendoza’s being 6-10-0 before the match, this 4 round fight crowned Somo as the winner after dominating 4 rounds. Somo was very quick with his punches, but also took tough ones from Mendoza. His combo of left and right punches in a consistent rhythm weakened Mendoza throughout the match, as they landed as both body and face shots. In the end, Somo’s supporters were the loudest of all and he ended up being the champion of the fight.

Co-Main Event: Diego Luna vs. Ángel Archuleta

The craziest fight of the night was the 21-year-old boxer Diego “El Zorrito” Luna’s fight against Angel Archuleta. The shortest fight was the domination from El Zorrito straight off the bell. The San Diego fighter went into the match with a record of 7-1-1 and Archuleta with a record of 3-1-0. You could see from the beginning that El Zorrito had one thing in mind and knew exactly how to get there. He consistently went straight for the head shots at an incredibly speedy pace, with his eyes always on the target of the head. With 1:46 seconds left in his fight, he knocked down his opponent with a left hook, and the match ended with a TKO in Round 1.

The Main Event: Adrian Torres vs. Marco Juarez

The event everyone had been waiting for from Tijuana boxers Adrian “El Ratón” Torres and Marco Juarez did not disappoint. This was the only match in which the fighters did not end their fight early, but all 8 rounds were as eventful as the previous ones. El Ratón held a record of 13-0-1, 11 being KO’s, but this was not a KO fight like the others this night. The fight ended with identical scores from the three judges after all 8 rounds, and the judges’ cards read 80 to 72. And El Ratón ended with another win.
