Former Alpine F1 team principal Otmar Szafnauer has joined Van Amersfoort Racing as its new CEO and managing partner.
Szafnauer has a long history of experience in motorsport, particularly in F1, and was last involved with the Alpine squad as its team boss.
The 61-year-old left the company midway through the 2023 season.
Prior to his position at Alpine, Szafnauer played a crucial role in the success of the underdog Force India team, and carried out team principal duties as it transitioned through the Racing Point and Aston Martin guises.
His latest role at Van Amersfoort Racing will see him responsible for its performance across various junior categories, including Formula 2 and Formula 3.
“Van Amersfoort Racing has a strong reputation for developing talent and competing at a high level across multiple categories,” Szafnauer said.
“I look forward to working closely with the leadership team and the wider organisation to guide the next phase of the team’s development.”
Van Amersfoort Racing’s team principal Brad Joyce, who worked with Szafnauer for several years at Force India as a race engineer, added: “Otmar’s experience and leadership add valuable perspective to the organisation.
“His appointment significantly strengthens VAR as we continue to evolve and pursue our long-term vision.”
