At Misfits Rehab, Jennifer Marchigiani takes in all kinds of animals in need. Her goal is always to release her patients back into the wild, and she does whatever it takes to help them get there.

Recently, Marchigiani posted a video on TikTok of a bunch of rescued babies in what look like tiny sleeping bags, all snuggled up and having a snack, and people went wild. Amazingly, the story behind the video is actually even cuter than the video itself.

The babies in the sleeping bags are actually tiny bats, ranging in age from newborn to 4 weeks. They were rescued from all different locations — some had fallen down chimneys, others had fallen from the roofs of barns, and one was even found on someone’s lawn. They’re all super young and just looking to feel safe, and that’s where the sleeping bags come in.

“The ‘sleeping bags’ are actually ‘bat wraps,’ which simulate the feeling of being tucked safely under their mother’s wing,” Marchigiani told The Dodo. “It is definitely a security feeling.”

The little bat wraps make the babies feel like someone is taking care of them, holding them snugly in place. The baby bats love being in the wraps almost as much as people love seeing them snuggled up in them.

“[People] think it’s adorable,” Marchigiani said.

Since the video was taken, many of the baby bats have been safely released back into the wild. Others will be released in the next few weeks, still curled up in their bat wraps, waiting for their time to rejoin the world.
