Coach Talia Radan made the announcement to the senior playing group on Wednesday evening.
“Ella is a composed, intelligent leader who drives high standards in our football program. The playing group will benefit from her experience across two sports at state level. Asha drives excellence. Her determination is infectious and her leadership development over the past 12 months has been outstanding.
This is an exciting new era for our women’s program and I have complete trust in Ella and Asha. Both are also set to reach their 50-game SANFLW milestones in the early rounds of the 2026 season,” Radan said.
Quinn and Dufour will be supported by a diverse five-player vice-captain group, bringing a blend of experience, development and strong leadership to the side.
Deni Varnhagen, with 38 games for the Adelaide Football Club and two AFLW premierships to her name, adds valuable experience and composure to a youthful Bays line-up. Kiana Lee contributes significant SANFLW and State-level experience, having played 65 league games. Now in her fifth season with the Tigers, Shay’Lee Dayman continues to deliver consistent on-field performances alongside strong leadership qualities. Millie Clarke has been rewarded for her outstanding development throughout the 2025 season with her appointment as vice-captain, while Maddy Zacher has further demonstrated her leadership influence since joining Glenelg in 2025, making a significant impact on the group following her return from a long-term injury.
Radan is excited for the new leadership group to continue making a positive impact at the club.
“All five vice-captains are unique and diverse in their leadership qualities and traits, and received strong backing from the players and coaches. We are incredibly fortunate to have Millie, Maddy and Shay’Lee take the next step in leading our football club.
To have two new recruits in Deni and Kiana make such a positive impact on our group in such a short space of time is a testament to their football IQ and their ability to lead by example.”
Glenelg’s SANFLW leadership team will guide the playing group into the club’s 2026 campaign while fostering important development pathways for emerging leaders. These players will rotate through the leadership group, shadowing, learning from and supporting those identified as the strongest representatives of the club.
Congratulations to the emerging leaders: Charlotte O’Sullivan (16), Georgie Fielder (17), Liz Johnson (18), Lucy Weatherald (19), Mackenzie O’Dea (19), and Sophie Thomas (19).
