It’s been a while since Australia’s worst rent-seeker lobby group, the Business Council of Australia, issued one of its reports calling for company tax cuts and a return to WorkChoices — the ones dutifully reported by the media as though each iteration of the same stuff is somehow startlingly new.
So kudos to BCA boss Bran Black for trying something different this week: instead of simply offering up the same rubbish under a different title, he’s repackaged the same old and decidedly non-vintage wine in a different kind of bottle: a competitiveness index.
