Seven dead Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, all with ties to Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Odinson, will reportedly appear in Avengers: Doomsday.

No MCU character has perhaps lost more loved ones than Thor, with the beloved God of Thunder losing the Warriors Three and Odin in Thor: Ragnarok, Heimdall and Loki in Avengers: Infinity War, and his former love interest Jane Foster/Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Which dead Thor characters will return in Avengers: Doomsday?

According to scooper MAJESTIC_ucm in a new post on X, those seven dead characters will all return in Avengers: Doomsday in a scene where Thor, surrounded by Steve Rogers, Korg, and Valkyrie, prays for help.

“Then an army from Valhalla arrives, including Lady Thor, the Warriors Three, Heimdall, and the original Loki. Odin’s voice is heard: ‘Lead them into battle, my son,’” claims the scooper. This tracks with what a different scooper, MyTimeToShineHello, reported on last month about Thor receiving an army from Valhalla.

At this time, it is unclear when in Doomsday this scene will take place. Reported plot details for Doomsday have Thor and Steve on a side quest to find the Loki variant introduced in Avengers: Endgame, who went on to become the God of Stories, a.k.a. the overseer of the MCU Multiverse, by the end of Loki Season 2.

Unfortunately, the two Avengers will reportedly arrive at the Time Variance Authority just after Doctor Doom has killed everyone there, including the Loki variant. This may be when Thor calls upon Odin for his Valhalla army, although that’s just pure speculation at this time.

Plot details remain under wraps for Avengers: Doomsday, although the movie will see the Avengers, the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men working together to stop Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. It will take place 14 months after the main events of Thunderbolts*.

Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay for Doomsday, with Joe and Anthony Russo returning as directors. Avengers: Doomsday will arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
