Charley Hull has been forced to withdraw from the PIF London Championship at Centurion Club after sustaining ankle ligament damage.
Hull, 29, revealed during her pre-tournament press conference that she fell over a curb while walking from the locker room to the car park on Wednesday.
After falling to the ground, Hull admitted she heard a pop sound and initially thought she had broken her ankle.
She also said she nearly fainted.Â
While lying on the tarmac in pain and in front of a security guard, Hull said she was shouting out for her boyfriend to come and help.
But someone nearby to her in the car park quickly assisted by putting her inside a car.Â
Hull explained she was going for an MRI on Thursday afternoon and that she hoped she would be able to compete in the PIF London Championship.
But as it’s turned out, the scan revealed ankle ligament damage and Hull has been advised to withdraw from her home event.Â
While she will not compete, the Solheim Cup star will still be on-site at Centurion Club over the weekend to meet fans and sign autographs.
Hull took to Insta to confirm her WD
Hull took to her Instagram Story to confirm her WD with the following message:Â
Gutted to say I’ve had to withdraw from the PIF London Championship this week.
Picked up some ankle ligament damage after a (non-serious) accident off the course. Nothing major, but the docs say I’ve got to rest or I’ll make it worse.
Absolutely gutted not to be playing at home, especially at an event like this. It means so much to me, and I’m really sorry to the fans coming out and to my sponsors, especially Golf Saudi. Hopefully I’ll still get to meet some of you over the weekend.
Appreciate all the support. I’ll be back soon 🖤

Hull joked during her presser earlier in the day that she’s just generally a very “clumsy person”.Â
She told how European Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn recently joked that everytime he sees her she’s on the floor.Â
“Thomas Bjorn was watching me on the floor and said every time he sees me, I’m lying down somewhere,” said Hull.
“I don’t do it on purpose; I’m naturally clumsy.Â
“My sister is the clumsiest person I know, and I used to make fun of her for it.Â
“I fell over in the middle of the road about two years ago. It runs in my dad’s genes.”

Hull worryingly collapsed on the course during the Evian Championship last month.
The London PIF Championship will still feature a world-class field including major champions Georgia Hall, Celine Boutier and Patty Tavatanakit.
