Max Holloway has a massive matchup set to go down this weekend, and a TUF champion who was inspired to enter mixed martial arts because of ‘Blessed’ has weighed in on that looming fight. ‘Holloway will run it back with Charles Oliveira in a rematch, but this time, the BMF championship is being defended by the former.

In a feature article on the UFC website, Daniil Donchenko [The Ultimate Fighter season 33 champ referenced above] mentioned that his biggest inspiration is Max Holloway. Based on the way that Donchenko approaches fighting and how he wants to create that excitement, that dynamic makes a great deal of sense.

When asked for his thoughts on the rematch that Holloway is having with Charles Oliveira and how he sees that BMF title fight playing out on Saturday, March 7th. Donchenko said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],

“It’s so good for me. You know, it’s like Max Holloway. Everyone thinks he just the guy who go for bang, like just crazy fight, but he is so smart. He is so smart. We saw this, how he can follow his game plan with Arnold Allen, with [Ilia] Topuria. He just kicked like with [Alexander] Volkanovski. He’s like really smart, really good, and he put the action. He fights smart but with a lot of action. Everyone knows that Max Holloway step inside the octagon, it will be like a lot of action, you know. It will be good fight, 100%.”

Max Holloway praised as a legend and insane action fighter by Donchenko

When further delving into his thoughts on the looming sequel to the Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira series, Donchenko continued [via Bowks Talking Bouts],

“It will be good fight and he was a champion. But not just like a champion who won the belt and we know he’s a champion. No, he’s a legend he was like kind of the champion who and people knows if he will fight it will be like; he’s like action fighter, lose champion. That’s something insane. So, he’s like big inspiration and I really want to; that people talk about me like they talk about Max Holloway [in] his prime.”
