Watching Friday’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, all I could think to say was, “What the… ?!?” There was Steffy, who shares a take-no-prisoners attitude as well as a name with her late grandmother, behaving… “Bizarrely” doesn’t seem like the right word. She wasn’t just out of character, she was far out. Let me explain.

So Will was telling Steffy that he was thinking of leaving Forrester Creations and his apparently vital role of Senior Executive Intern in Charge of Fabric Swatches or whatever it is. And she was encouraging him to stay. All together now: What?!?

Make It Make Sense

Will is the son of Katie, who just quit Forrester to run a rival fashion house, and Bill, who is Steffy’s dad Ridge’s sworn enemy. So on what planet would she want Will around? 1. His continued presence all but invites the youngster to steal Forrester designs for his parents. 2. Steffy’s crazy about second cousin Electra, so why would she put her in the awkward position of working with her ex? And 3. Steffy is the kind of bulldozer CEO who forces Hope to fire her own brother because there isn’t enough room at the inn for him. But there’s space on the payroll for the son of the tag team that’s hoping to trounce Forrester in the fashion wars?

Does she remember him more fondly as a tyke than we realized?

Method to the Madness

I get it, of course. The show wants to keep Will at Forrester so that he can constantly bump into Electra and R.J., and they can play that tension. But did it have to come at Steffy’s expense? Did it have to feel like she’d been abducted by aliens and replaced with a softy who says things like “I really admire everything you’re doing here”?

What is he even doing?

Steffy called him a “hustler,” but the only thing we’ve ever seen him hustle to do is make out with Electra. We hear that he attends meetings, but what can they possibly entail? Jamie and Kingsley lusting after him?

It was only a hot minute ago that Steffy was lowering the boom on her own mother, threatening to cut Taylor off from her grandkids if she pursued a relationship with Deacon. Where was that bottom-line, my-way-or-the-highway Steffy in this conversation with Will? Would Forrester’s CEO even give the time of day to an intern — no matter if he’s the Senior Exalted Intern in Charge of Pincushions? If she did, the Steffy we know would’ve bid good riddance to the potential corporate spy in the time it takes to blink.

Now, though, it seems likelier that Will has so much clout that he’ll be pitching Steffy a line of Dylan’s shrunken shirts, and she’ll be like, “Why didn’t we think of this years ago!”?
