WILL Brown has ended his qualifying hoodoo by claiming pole position for Supercars’ final race on Sunday at Albert Park.

The 2024 series champion beat Tickford rival Thomas Randle by 0.2230s to claim his first pole since Tasmania last year.

The Melbourne pole also bettered Broc Feeney‘s Race 6 pole time to set a new Gen3 qualifying lap record at Albert Park.

It also gave Brown a rare win against his Triple Eight teammate, who had outqualified him in the last 27 sessions consecutively and moves their scoreline to 3-40 in their last 43 sessions.

Feeney will start the Sunday race from down in 11th, his first time starting outside the top 10 since Townsville last year.

Aaron Cameron backed up his earlier qualifying pace to be third from Brodie Kostecki, with Matt Payne and Ryan Wood winding up sixth.

Unlike the prior session, which ended in drama as half the field failed to start their final runs, the eight-minute duration meant all drivers had just one bite of the cherry.

The fastest car was the last one across the line, Brown leaving his flyer late to clear the field by over two tenths of a second.

Joining Feeney outside the top 10 was reigning champion Chaz Mostert, who will start alongside him in 12th, while both Erebus cars sat at the foot of the timesheets in 22nd and 23rd.

Unluckiest of all was Zach Bates, who failed to make it out at all after striking a mechanical problem (starter motor failure) late in qualifying for Race 6.
