Darryn Peterson intriguingly stated that he could be back for one more year for the Jayhawks.
This year’s NBA Draft class could be in danger of losing another compelling prospect, as Darryn Peterson expressed consideration about returning for one more year in college.
“I love Kansas, I love everything about being here and my team,” Peterson said after an explosive 27-point performance to lead the Jayhawks to a dominant 104- 85 Saturday win over the Kansas State Wildcats.
“Maybe one more year. I might run it back.”
Previously, AJ Dybantsa expressed doubts about entering the 2026 NBA Draft out of his mother’s desire to finish his college degree.
Peterson has been on a tear in his ongoing freshman season for Kansas. In 19 games played so far, he is averaging 19.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals.
Like Dybantsa, Peterson is drawing favor as a potential No. 1 pick of this year’s draft. But out of his recent statement, time will only tell how everything will unfold.
Should Peterson and Dybantsa decide to back out and play one more collegiate season, that would certainly have a significant impact on the NBA’s talent pool for next year.
