Alex Bump absolutely kicked butt in his NHL Debut last night (March 7, 2026). Bump made his first appearance against the Pittsburgh Penguins and he delivered in a big way. The 22-year-old left winger scored his first career NHL goal (and first shot) in the second period, tying the game at 2-2 with a nice wrist shot from the slot off a slick pass from Nikita Grebenkin.

It was a special moment—his family and friends (the “Official Bump Hype Crew” in their orange shirts) were in the stands going wild. The Flyers pulled out a 4-3 shootout win, with Trevor Zegras sealing it.

Bump looked solid overall, showing quick chemistry on his line and contributing to some strong chances. He’s a former fifth-round pick (133rd overall in 2022) who just won an NCAA title with Western Michigan last year and had 11 goals/26 points in 36 AHL games with Lehigh Valley this season.

“I was more nervous with my rookie lap. When you start playing hockey, it’s just another hockey game,” Bump said of making his NHL Debut.

What a way to introduce himself to the league—welcome to the show, Bump! Flyers fans have to be hyped about this one.
