Applications have opened for the 10th edition of the Africa-focused startup accelerator run by Google, as the tech giant deepens its push to support artificial intelligence innovation across the continent.
The Google for Startups Accelerator Africa 10 programme will run as a three-month hybrid initiative designed to bring Google’s technology, expertise and global network to growth-stage startups building solutions for African markets.
The 12-week “AI First” programme is specifically aimed at Series A startups based in Africa or developing Africa-centric products powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Participants will gain direct access to Google engineers, AI specialists and industry mentors, alongside networking opportunities with global investors and founders. Each cohort typically 10 to 15 startups, works through a structured combination of remote sessions, in-person engagements, one-to-one mentoring and sprint projects focused on solving critical technical problems.
Startups accepted into the programme will also receive equity-free support, a feature that has made many corporate accelerators attractive to founders seeking capital-efficient growth.
Strategic Support and Technical Resources
Selected companies will gain early access to Google’s artificial intelligence products through the company’s Early Access Program and Trusted Tester initiatives, allowing startups to experiment with new AI tools before public release.
Participants may also qualify for Google Cloud credits to support product development and scaling, as well as free access to Cloud TPUs, specialised hardware designed to accelerate machine learning research and large-scale AI workloads.
The accelerator also includes technical bootcamps, workshops and specialist deep-dive sessions covering areas such as product design, customer acquisition strategies and leadership development for founders.
In addition, startups will work directly with Google experts through technical project partnerships, allowing engineering teams to tackle complex infrastructure or AI implementation challenges.
Strict Entry Requirements
The accelerator targets startups that have already demonstrated market traction and are building scalable products with significant total addressable markets and defensible growth models.
Applicants must also be deeply technical businesses, preferably using technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, and must commit participation from CTOs or senior technical leaders throughout the programme.
Google said the initiative aims to assemble high-quality cohorts of ambitious startups, encouraging applications from founders across the continent.
Key Dates for the 2026 Cohort
Applications for the programme opened on February 4, 2026 and will close on March 18, 2026.
The selected cohort will begin the programme in April 2026, followed by graduation and a Demo Day scheduled for June 2026, where participating startups typically showcase their products to investors, partners and the wider technology ecosystem.

Africa’s AI Startup Momentum
The launch of the accelerator comes as artificial intelligence becomes one of Africa’s fastest-growing technology sectors. Startups across fintech, agriculture, logistics and healthcare are increasingly integrating machine learning tools to improve productivity and expand services.
For global technology companies, Africa’s rapidly expanding digital economy projected by several industry analysts to exceed $700 billion by the end of the decade, represents both a growth opportunity and a proving ground for AI-driven solutions designed for emerging markets.
By targeting growth-stage ventures with working products and market traction, Google’s latest accelerator cohort signals a strategic shift supporting startups that are ready not only to innovate but to scale across Africa’s increasingly interconnected digital economy.
